Show TRUCK TIPS OVER; TWO ARE HURT What could very easily have been a fatal accident occurred Monday, just belore noon, at the junction of Uie way 21 and the Minersville road when a high-loaded truck belonging to the Hales Trucking company of :iilt Lake turned upside down in the canal at that point. William Owens, in charge of the truck, escaped with a broken shoulder and bruises while Miss Kayona Smith of Salt Lake, who was accompanying him and had taken the wheel when Owens became sleepy, sustained a badly cut hand and other lacerations and bruises. Highway drain tile, flour and other stuff composing the miscellaneous load being hauled were almost a total to-tal loss, while the truck was also badly damaged. At the last minute before leaving Salt Lake to come to Beaver with the highway tile, a Salt lake milling company had importuned the trucking truck-ing coivi any to include a partial shipment of flour for the local Safeway Safe-way store, the flour being loaded on top of the tile and other staff, making mak-ing the load more or less top-heavy and very hard to handle on turns. Frank Williams and Ken Kelsey of Minersville were first to reach the scene of the accident and they rushed the injured parties to Milford, where Dr. C. R. Parrish attended them. Owens was able, to return to his home Wednesday but Miss Smith is remaining here for the time being, a vuest at the home of her uncle, George Rogers, her mother having joined her here. W. H. Hales of the trucking company com-pany arrived on the scene late Monday Mon-day night to look after matters connected con-nected with the accident, being accompanied ac-companied here by his wife. P. J. Williams, local Safeway store manager, mana-ger, by reason of a previous acquaintance ac-quaintance with Mr. Hales, had, in the meantime, stationed day and right watchman at the scene in the persons of Lawrence Easton and Claude Horton. and otherwise assisted assist-ed in the emergency. |
