Show RESUBMISSION IS PROMISED BY POLL l'.owing to public sentiment, Utah's legislature, by at least a two-thirds majority, had indicated its desire .Monday to allow the electorate to pas.- upon the Utah state prohibition amendment, according to the Salt Lake Telegram, which has been conducting con-ducting a poll of the opinions of the members of the l'tah legislature relative rela-tive to permitting the people of the state to re-amend the state constitution., constitu-tion., without which beer or any other Ucuor containing more than one-halt of one per cent of alcohol will not be legal in l'tah, no matter what may be done about the national prohibition amendment. The Telegram's poll revealed that IS senators and -10 members of the house of representatives favor resubmission resub-mission of the prohibition section of the constitution. The senate poll showed that only one senator. 0. C. Bowman (K. Kane) is opposed to the proposal. Three senators were "non-committal" and Hetbert B. Maw (D., Salt Lake), had no: reported. The eighteen votes in the senate give resubmission the benefit of the two extra votes over the necessary lt for a two-thirds majority. The poll, however, includes the favorable votes of Pan B. Shields (D., Salt Lake), and Knox Patter-son (D., Grand). Mr. j Shields resigned Monday and -Mr. Patterson plans to resign because of federal appointment. Thus resubmission is bound to pass J the senate . . . unless the specal ses-ion ses-ion July 10, is marked by some fancy mind changing, and even though Governor Gov-ernor Henry H. Blood names ardent drys as successors to Mr. Patterson ami Mr. Shields. The picture in the house is somewhat some-what different. The poll indicates a bare two-thirds majority of 40 votes in favor of resubmission, with four "representatives opposed and four "noncommittal." There are, however, ten represent;.. ives who have not yet been approached because of their in-accessability in-accessability by telephone or absence on vacations. Some of the ten unreported are known to be in favor of resubmission, while others are doubtful. The 40 votes in favor of the proposal, however, how-ever, nclude the favorable expression expres-sion of Mrs. Reva Beck Basone (D., Carbon), who has resigned.
