Show New Leader to Front In Prize Campaign Only a Short Time Remains To Choose between Victory and Defeat De-feat Success or Failure Do not Overlook a single Opportunity To Better Your Chance to Win the Prize Whippet Coach! 3 During the past week, developments develop-ments in the Milford News' big prize campaign have been the most sensational sensa-tional and spectacular yet recorded. Tens of thousands cf votes were case, first one candidate would hold sway for supremacy, then another; battles were fought, won and lost, and the battle for subscriptions waged furious. furi-ous. Right off the reel Eileen Morley, who led the entire field in last week's published report, was overtaken and passed and the leadership assumed by Miss Bessie Killam, who came flashing flash-ing into first place with all the speed and sparkle of a comet, and today holds commanding position altho by the narrowest sort of a margin. Backed by a strong coterie of friends, popular and a hustler, she has thrown down the gauntlet and will be a factor fac-tor to be reckoned with from now until un-til the finish. While crowded out of top position, Eileen Morley is undaunted in her determination to win first' honors and if conscientious effort, coupled with loyal friends, whom she numbers by the score, has aything to do with the question, you may expect to see her name hoisted with the winning numbers when the "show down" comes. The 'first period' of the campaign which closed Saturday night, was a tremendous success. Tens of thousands of votes were issued and each candidate candi-date profited mightily. The time for ACTION is -now at hand. The race has been going along at a pretty even pace, but that can't last. SOMEONE SOME-ONE is going to show a burst of speed and iro right over the top. The opportunity to do that very thing is apparent. The vote totals are entii-ely too small to stand long. Just a few SUBSCRIPTION CLUBS would put anyone far in the lead. It is a strange coincidence something very unusual in affairs of this kind but several of the leading contestants profited so equally during the period just closed that without hairline figuring it is almost impossible to determine the real leaders today. The competition competi-tion therefore, so far as the relative standing of candidates is concerned, is just where it was, so it depends ENTIRELY upon the results obtained obtain-ed between now and the finish as to who the ultimate winners in the cam-pagin cam-pagin will be- The .above statement is not "mere, talk" for the sake of -telling, but a REAL FACT theories rumors or other visible evidence to the contrary notwithstanding. During the "second period" subscriptions sub-scriptions still count big; in fact they count for almost as many votes now as during the first period just closed. Then, too, there is the EXTRA prize of $25.00 in GOLD and the choice of any pair of shoes in Cline's Golden Rule Store that is to be given the candidate that turns in the most money to the campaign department by 9 P. M. Saturday, November 10th. These prizes will be given on the night of the 10th. DON'T BE AFRAID of working too hard, for it is better to be safe than sorry. Avail yourselves of the opportunity oppor-tunity that this, period affords and work as though you were earning $115.00 a week, for that is what the winner of the Whippet Coach will have earned. Think and plan constantly constant-ly for means of success. Figure ways to win, and always remember that your adversaries, as keen and resourceful re-sourceful as yourself, are raking some very acute brains for the same purpose. pur-pose. It means something to win in a competition of this kind. It is a demonstration dem-onstration of ability that is extraordinary. extraor-dinary. It proves a winning personality. person-ality. Some times it proves up the J "yellow" in your bogus friends, but it reveals the true ones, and it always tests your meUie and measures your strength. Who will win the $25.00 in gold and the pair of shoes? ITS UP TO YOU! I |
