Lht Pacific Coat Network the National Broadcasting company -n-ery Thursday morning a musical lecture, intended primarily for the schools of the Pacific Coast. Each Thursday evening the Standard Symphony Sym-phony Orchestra will play for an hour. The morning lecture will describe des-cribe the compositions to be played 'n the evening. The composers will 'e discussed, and students will be told in detail, with illustrations by instrumentalists, instru-mentalists, of what the composer Ties to achieve, and how he does it. rhe lectures will be considerably more han descriptive in that the principles rnd technicalities of music will be 'ully developed. By this plan it will he possible to give a course in musical education unobtainable by most schools in any other way. A course of 3G lectures has been developed. The course is divided into six main sections American music; Austro-German classics; Russian, Scandinavian and Polish; French and Italian; operatic influences; and Ro-matic Ro-matic 1.9th Century musical developments. develop-ments. Six lectures will be devoted to each of these major topics. Thus there will be a lecture on one of the main topics every six weeks- For schools not equipped with radio sets the lectures will be issued in printed form or use by music teachers. |
