Show Proper Compression in Motor Engine Cylinder Good compression in a motor car engine cylinder depends on the fit of the rings in the cylinder and on the fit of the rings in the grooves of the piston. Many amateur auto mechanics me-chanics fail on a ring fitting job because be-cause they fail to realize the importance impor-tance of piston ring fit In the cylinder cylin-der grooves and the need for a clean groove that will permit the ring to operate without binding.
