Show WANT CONFERENCE ON PROPOSED NEW PANGU1TCH ROAD LIONS GET DOWN TO BRASS TACKS ON CHOICE OF ROUTE Two hundred and fifty dollars has1 been raised by sheepmen in and around Panguitch for the building of a road from Pnaguitch to Milford. j According to word received from down that way, they are now expecting Milford, Beaver, Circleville, an' Min-j ersville to get busy ant' do their share. j Lions of Milford however, arf not much in favor of raising an appro-! priation here until it is decided upon j which route the new road will take. ! A preliminary excursion went from here over Buckskin Flats and Bone Hollow into Panguitch, and are strongly in favor of that route. To some extent sentiment at Panguitch favors a road via Little Peak. The Lions club went on record in favor of a road conference between men from all towns interested, to-. to-. gether with such members of. the Gar field county Board of Commissioners as can be induced to attend. By hv-ing hv-ing all the surrounding country represented rep-resented at this road conference, the real sentiment in regard to the route will be accurately arrived at. They believe here that such a conference should be held before there is a dollar raised. The Lions were assured that the Beaver club would be behind such a conference. Past experience here has taught Milford people that someone some-one is liable to get 'stung' if money is raised for roads before a decision of the majority is made, according to the expressions made by . several prominent local men. Road enthusiasts here say that the Buckskin route is at a much lesser elevation, thus causing less difficulties difficul-ties on account of snow; is composed of a finer road material; and follows the sunny side of the ranges. It is believed that $750.00 will make this road passable. The Buckskin Flats road runs north of the other route suggested the Little Peak route. The Little Peak route is undeniably shorter. It is believed be-lieved here that our neighbors to the south who will profit by a new road, will be in favor of the north route if a road conference can be arranged and the matter talked over. The Lions were in favor of having the meeting at the earliest possible date, probably during next week. |
