Show LOCAL POSTS HONORED AT CONVENTION Two members of the Milford post of the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary were chosen for state offices at the joint convention of the organization which closed Saturday Satur-day at Park City. Mrs. Helena McGarry, past president presi-dent of the local post of the Auxiliary, Auxil-iary, was chosen second vice president and John M. Coffeen, delegate from the local post of the Legion, was named nam-ed one of the district commanders for district number 7. Mrs. McGarry's election was in recognition re-cognition of the Milford post's activ-t activ-t ities during the past year which were highly commended by the state offic- ers and received national citation from the national vice president. Two delegates from the Legion and six from the Auxiliary of Milford at- tended the convention and participat ed in the business meetings and social activities that occupied the delegates gathered at Park City from all over the state. They represented the largest larg-est delegation to be sent from a post the size of Milford's. They participated in the parade held in Park City Friday evening, the men carrying the colors and the women appearing ap-pearing in the pioneer costumes used here for the Forty-Niners parade this spring. Delegates attending from Milford were: John M. Coffeen and Theodore Kronholm, Mrs. Helena McGarry, Mrs. Naomi Hughes, Mrs. Abbie Dutson, Mrs. Lois Waddingham, Mrs. Edyth Coffeen and Mrs. Lila Weber. The closing day of the convention saw the election of officers and the naming of St. George as the convention conven-tion city for next year. George S. Ballif of Provo was named department depart-ment commander and Joseph E. Nelson Nel-son of Spanish Fork, national committeeman com-mitteeman for the Legion. The Atijc iliary elected Mrs. Edward E. Jenkins of Salt Lake, department president and Mrs. Ballif, retiring president, national na-tional committee woman. |
