Show SUMMER MUSIC IS PROVING POPULAR Summer music under the leadership of Lorus Hand is proving popular and a large enrollmgnt in band, orchestra and chorus has resulted. The junior band numbers forty members, junior orchestra, thirty, -senior orchestra, twenty-eight, string orchestra fifteen, girls chorus, twenty five. In addition to these larger bodies, bod-ies, a string ensemble of nine pieces has been organized as well as beginners begin-ners class in coronet, claranet .and violin numbering six to ten each. Regular practices of the various musical units are held at the high school in the evening and work is progressing pro-gressing so favorably that Mr. Hand is planning several recitals later in the summer which will culminate with an out door musical festival in which all the units will participate. Though the classes have grown steadily, enrollment in these free' courses is still encouraged with especf ial encouragement offered studentfs interested in learning the cello, flut-, clarinet, trombone and viola. Mu.-ii-cians adept at these instruments will be welcome in any orchestra where ever they may be, Mr. Hand states, and time spent on mastering these instruments in-struments will be put to excellent advantage. ad-vantage. He will give special attention atten-tion to beginners on the instruments that he needs to complete his orchestra orches-tra and their position in the orchestra will be assured. |
