Show SOUTH MILFORD Mis. Mary C. Burnett departed for Pittsburg, Pa., on Monday. She has been the guest of Mrs. Addison By-. By-. bee for ten days. ' , County Agent Lew Mar Price of Beaver and Federal Inspector, John E. Blazzard of Cedar City were visitors visit-ors on the Flat last Wednesday. Ranchers are very busy at present cutting corn for silage, the trench silo being used by almost everyone. Excitement ran high on Tuesday afternoon when the boiler over heated heat-ed and set fire to the milk house on the Reuben Jones ranch and threatened threat-ened seriously a time the loss of their home as the house is adjacent to the milk house. A hurried call was sent to Milford and the Fire Department made a splendid run to the scene. However a large force of men at work cutting silage at J. G. Weber's saw the blaze as it broke through the roof and rushing to help had the fire under control with a bucket brigade when the Fire Department arrived. The house roof heated badly and threatened danger for some time while windows cracked from the heat hone of the valuable electrical equipment equip-ment or separators were damaged. It was a fortunate escape and the fri'y feol- deeply grateful to the ''c? Tevartent and their many v'ghbo'-s who came so promptly to 'he;r assistance. The Saturday afternoon Bridge c'ub met at the home of Mrs. W. C. Cates last Saturday. Masses of fall flowers were used as decorations. After Af-ter cards, refreshments were served by the hostess assisted by Miss Rosa- belle Jones. Members present were Mesdames Wm. Cochrane, J. Mur-dock, Mur-dock, M. Pool, Myron Lewis, R. Neil-sen. Neil-sen. Guests of the club included Mesdames Fred Levi and George Jefferson. Mrs. Myron Lewis won high score for honors and Mrs. J. Murdock for points, Mrs. Milton Poo receiving consolation score. The Live Wire . girls closed their sessions for the summer with a dancing danc-ing party for their friends at the club house on Wednesday evening. Miss Laurels Johnston was chairman on entertainment and Miss Katherine Griffiths on refreshments. During the evening the girls presented their Supervisor, Mrs. C. A. Rohn with a gift in appreciation of her work with them during the summer. A weinnie supper was served after the dance. MINERSVILLE Mr. and Mrs. Josiah Osborne spent the weeR-end in northern Utah. Miss Iona Hall returned home Wednesday of last week after visiting visit-ing relatives and friends in Washington Wash-ington county. Mr. and Mrs. George Reinstrom and family of North Creek are spending spend-ing two weeks here with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Thompson and son of Beaver were in town Sunday. Mrs. Amy Baker visited relatives at Cedar City last week. Eugene and Ruby Hardy who are attending school at Cedar City spent the week-end here. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Worthen and children have returned after spending spend-ing the summer in Washington county. i Mrs. Jennie Gillies of Beaver spent the week-end here at the home of Mrs. Anne Wood. David Heslington and Mr. Hughes of T'lilford were the speakers at sacrament sac-rament meeting Sunday. 1 Miss Maude Myers of South Mil-ford Mil-ford spent several days of last week j here. I Mrs. Ida Neilsen and daughter Ioa of Beaver called on relatives here Friday. Mrs. Ralph Bowman and son Douglas of Beaver were in town Friday. Fri-day. Eileen Gillins spent the first of the week at Beaver with her aunt, Mrs. Kenneth Ward. Mrs. Nancy Whornham of Beaver spent Sunday here as the guest of her friends, Mrs. M. 0. Fisher. The primary home coming was held Wednesday evening. Many articles ar-ticles that were made during the year were on display. . Miss Pauline Williams of Greenville, Green-ville, visited friends here Sunday. GREENVILLE Fern Hunter and Roma McKee of Holden are spending a few days visiting vis-iting with friends and relatives. Mrs. David Atkin and Mrs. Ross Calvert spent Tuesday in Minersville. Mr. and Mrs. Perce Williams and Mrs. S. R. Barton made a trip to Minersville Wednesday. Mr. A. A. Morris of Beaver was in town Wednesday. Gus Easton of Beaver called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Williams Monday. Amasa Barton, James and Perce Williams returned home Wednesday from the road camp where they have been employed for the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Fletcher and children Sara, Herbert and Joe of Log'an called to see friends here Wednesday. Mart Barton who has been in Cal-iente, Cal-iente, Nevada, for the past two weeks returned home Wednesday. Bill Davis and son Vernon of Cal-iente Cal-iente are spending a few days here with friends and relatives. Mrs. H. J. Morris who has been in Pintura for the past two weeks visiting vis-iting her daughter, Mrs. T. C. Parkinson Park-inson returned home Wednesday. Mrs. Bill Blackett left Friday for Pintura where she will spend a week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Parkinson. K three year old son of Mr. and Mrs. P. M. Williams met with a painful pain-ful accident Wednesday while pounding pound-ing glass with hampner. A piece of glass flew into his eye cutting j through the eye ball into the pupil. K was rushed to Salt Lake City by his father and mother in an effort to save his eye sight which their friends hope will be .successful. D. Hunter of Fillmore was in town visiting friends and relatives Saturday. Satur-day. D. J. Williams accompanied Mr. and Mrs. P. M. Williams to Salt Lake i City Wednesday. j Mr. and Mrs. H. V. Raema Barton left Sunday for Cedar Ce-dar City where she will spend a week visiting her sister, Mrs. W. S. Bolton. Blaine Blackett left Sunday for Panguitch Lake where he will spend two or three days. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Blackner and children Melvin and Ruth and Mrs. Loten Kesler and daughter Mae of Beaver spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Blackner. LeRoy Baxter of Milford was in town Monday. Joseph Murdock of Milford spent a few days visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. O. A. B. Blackner. Mr. and Mrs. John Anderson of Jackson County called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Perce Williams. West Barton, Grant and Heber Murdock who have been working on the thresher spent Sunday with their parents. ADAMSVILLE LaRue Baldwin has been visiting with her grandparents for a few days at Manderfield. , Mrs Frank Jessup and famly left for Pioche, Nevada September 5th to join her husband while their children attend school where Mr. Jessup has employment. Louis Stewart and wife and little son are back to there home here after spending a month or so at South Milford. Mil-ford. Beth Griffiths is spending a few days at Minersville with friends. Zoe Barraclaugh of Beaver has been a visitor at the home of Miss Revou Eyre the past week. j Henry Gillins of Minersville has been visiting here a few days with' relatives. i Ernest Stewart, wife and family of Springville have moved to Adamsvillej for the winter months. Mrs. John Gunn has just recently returned home from a trip to California Cali-fornia where she has been visiting with relatives. i Eugene Singleton and Pete Peter-! son of Milford were in town Sunday. Nelda Littlefield attended an oyster oy-ster supper in Beaver at the home of, Jasper Walker last week. White, prominent Beaver Beav-er resident, celebrated his eighty-first eighty-first birthday anniversary at his home here Saturday. As he has been bedfast for more than a year, many of his friends visited him during the day. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. C. Goodwin and sons Jack and Billie of Milford were visitors Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Goodwin and attended attend-ed the ball game and rodeo in the afternoon. af-ternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Goodwin and little daughter LaRae spent Saturday in Beaver. Miss Hazel Dhiel returned home Monday from the Milford hospital where she underwent an operation for appendicitis. Miss Vadus Carter of Minersville visited her aunt Mrs. Lorin Thompson Thomp-son and her friend Maud Goodwin Thursday and Friday last week. Mr. and Mrs. Warren Neilsen and two children returned home Tuesday from Salt Lake where they have been since Friday. Miss Jane Sloan of Milford attended attend-ed the ball game between Beaver and Milford Sunday. Virginia Baxter of Milford returned return-ed home Tuesday after spending five days with her friend Elinor Hickman. Mrs. Lottie Pearce and son Garth left Friday for Salt Lake where they will spend a week the guests of friends and relatives. |
