Show NO PERMITS ISSUED FOR ELK NEAR CEDAR Authority for the issuance of 283 permits to hunt elk in Utah herds was granted Tuesday by the state board of elk control, as compared with 259 such permits issued last year. The board received estimates that-there are 2400 head in Utah elk herds. The proper time for hunting elk was the subject for much debate during dur-ing the morning session of the board, which was public. During the afternoon after-noon the board held an executive session, ses-sion, at which it was determined that the season this year will extend from Thursday, November 10, through to Thanksgiving Day, November 24. The herd on Cedar mountains was estimated at about 60 head, with very little increase, and no permits will be issued this year for this locality this season. 12 permits were issued last year. A resoluton was adopted that no j more elk be killed for public purposes purpos-es ,a practice which has given rise to some dissatisfaction in the past. Iron County Record. |
