Show : HUGE POTATO CELLAR REQUIRES MANY CAR ; LOADS OFMATERIAL Construction of the huge storage potato cellar of the Union Pacific at this point continues. The power shovels shov-els have practically completed the excavation, ex-cavation, a well has been drilled, and work on the walls commenced. Seven carloads of lumber, or about 135,000 board feet, wili be used in the construction of the cellar, as well as a carload of cement and many hundred hund-red tons of straw. From all indications the growing of potatoes in the Milford valley will become one of its leading industries. The company represented by Dean F. Park, which has in a large acreage this season, is enthusiastic with the results obtained here, and another season wall engage in potato growing on a much larger scale. As it is necessary to raise alfalfa or peas on the raw land to prepare it for potato growing, much new land is expected to be put into cultivation next season in the development of the potato industry. |
