Show IMPORTANT MEETING IS HELD BY LIONS HANDLE PROBLEMS OF IMPORTANCE TO THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY One of the most enthusiastic meetings meet-ings held this year was the one held held by the Lions club at Wednesday noon this week at the Atkin Cafe. Although it was not known that much of importance was to be discussed, one of the largest turnouts in the history of the Milford Lions was present, pres-ent, and many things were brought up for consideration which are of timely interest to Milford and the county. The chief among these were a report re-port by George Jefferson on the paving situation; a report by L. G. Clay on the possibilities of securing a new road from here to Panguitch; the Boy Scout situation; and other affairs -which are mentioned elsewhere else-where in this paper. Short speeches were made by L. F. Fournier, local manager for the Telluride Power Company; S. C. Ruschmeier, the new manager at the Orpheum theatre; and by Clift Mc-Shane, Mc-Shane, a member of the Beaver Lions club. Snappy action was taken on questions ques-tions to be settled as soon as they were brought up. When it was mentioned men-tioned that Bob Nowers of Beaver, wanted two Milford men to serve on the Bearer County Fair board, Henry Bowman and C. G. Haskell were elected el-ected by acclamation. With the district dis-trict convention at Payson six weeks off, Jos. R. Murdock, L. C. Clay and Al Cline were elected as delegates, and Myron Lewis, Karl S. Carlton, and M. H. Pool, were selected as alternates. al-ternates. On the suggestion of Dr. C. R. Parrish, it was voted to erect signs at the south and north entrances to town, with appropriate Lions club greetings upon them. It was also decided to put cards out in town to apprize Lions of the place where the weekly meetings will be held. Fournier and McShane, of the Telluride Tel-luride Power company invited the Mlford Lions to hold a joint picnic I with the Beaver Lions in June, at the Telluride plant up in Beaver canyon, i Details for this will be worked out later. Speed and dispatch characterized the meeting throughout. |
