Show "George Washington's great strength lay in his legs," we are told by the Ladies' Home Journal. "He could easily leap a brook that other strong men could span only in two jumps." Much as we would have liked lik-ed to know Washington, we believe we'd rather have seen one of the other oth-er fellows leaping a brook in two jumps. Unruly prisoners at the state penitentiary, peni-tentiary, Canon City, Colo., are required re-quired to wear women's dress for purposes of discipline. Some of the prisoners, it is reported, dread this punishments more than the ball and chain. |
