Show KNOWING THE TREES t t MAIDENHAIR TREE (Ginkgo biloba.) GINKGO is a tree of unusual appearance, ap-pearance, Its slender branches extending ex-tending upward and outward from the trunk at an angle of approximately 45 degrees. The trunk and branches are straight but tapering, the bark dark brown or grayish, smooth in youth but becoming rough and seamed. The leaves are bright green and fan-shaped, fan-shaped, and have several short clefts ln the edge and grow from alternating alternat-ing short, buttonlike button-like branches in clusters of from three to six. Ginkgo Is a very peculiar but beautiful beau-tiful tree and often grows to a height of more than fifty feet. It is very hardy and is only subject to a very few Insect and disease attacks. There is an old Japanese tradition regarding the Ginkgo tree to the effect that young lovers will have good luck by touching the bark or branches.
