Show Hit Noise Brings the Coin Begging for the funds with which to rebuild a temple, an old Chinaman, has for 23 years been traversing the streets of Peiping. As an evidence of his holy character he wears a skewer passing through his cheeks and protruding pro-truding on either side. His method of extracting the coin is unique. He carries car-ries a huge wooden gong which Is known as "BBddha's Ear," and taking up a position in front of a native home he makes a deafening noise until un-til some member of the family comes out and gives him an adequate coin. If the amount meets with his approval lie will move on, otherwise he remains until the sum is increased. |
