Show INTELLIGENT ACTION Holders of the city water bonds will probably be aggrieved by having the money they lent the city at six per cent interest on the best of securities handed back to them abruptly on the first of April and by seeing those same bonds being let to a Salt Lake brockerage. But tax payers have no cause for grief, on the contrary, con-trary, they can congratulate themselves in having men of intelligence, intelli-gence, initiative and business acumen handling the financial laf-fairs laf-fairs of their city. The action of the town board in calling in the bonds ata time when it was necessary to increase taxes to meet their ultimate payment should it be delayed ten years, and in letting let-ting them again at a cheaper interest over p. period of eighteen years which will allow for their payment at the present tax rate vas a piece of financial juggling that deserves the gratitude of the taxpayers. The board took advantage of the times, borrowing money when money is cheap and avoiding the levying of taxes when taxes are hyard to pay. Moreover, in extending the time of payment, the Hoard has made it possible for the tax burden, small though it is, to be shared by the future property owners in Milford as well as the present. |
