Show BRIDGE BUILDERS ARE FORCED OUT DROP CRUCIAL TILT TO CALIENTE 39-31 ON B. A. C. FLOOR The basketball team representing ' the Milford Union Pacific miscellane ous group was forced out of the running run-ning this week when it dropped a hard fought game to Caliente. The score was 39 to 31. The contest was staged on a neutral floor, the B. A. C. gymnasium at Cedar City being the location and the time was Tuesday Tues-day evening. ' The game was almost entirely even for three quarters but the Nevadans pulled a typical Caliente spurt in the last stanza and forged ahead to a victory. vic-tory. The game was a crucial one, as it marked the best two out of three by which one M. E. G. team was allowed al-lowed to enter the league race. Wins Free Scoring Game On Saturday night, the locals defeated de-feated Caliente here by a score of 59 to 41. The game sparkled with the short pass system of the locals and the looping shots of the visiting center. cen-ter. Myers, forward for Milford, gathered 21 points. Other local stars were Marshall and Smith. D. Run-now, Run-now, the aforementioned Caliente center, played a bang-up game for the visitors. The Milford club was never headed but the Caliente quint threw a scare by a last quarter flurry of baskets. Ends Tourney Hopes It is not known at present whether the Milford M. E. G. team will finish, the present season by playing an independent in-dependent schedule. Mr. Hall and Stan McKnight had gathered a .fine bunch of players together and it is to be hoped that they can be seen again on the local floor. |
