Show Mrs. Jeanette Kohler is proud winner Of Whippet Coach at Close of Campaign 1 BESSIE KILLAM, EILEEN MORLEY MOR-LEY AND MRS HASKELL FOLLOW IN ORDER NAMED ALL WORK HARD Mrs. Jeanette Kohler, of Milford, i won the Whippet Coach which was given away by the Milford News at the close of the subscription campaign which closed last Saturday evening. The official count was made by a representative group of business men as judges. The seals on the ballot box were broken at the State Bank and counting and rechecking of votes took about and hour and a half. So great was the interest in the final result that the front of the bank was filled with people anxiously await-j await-j ing the announcements by the judges. Second prize was awarded Miss Bessie Killam, of Milford. This was . t-a t-a round-trip to Los Angeles with a week's expenses paid, or the equivalent equiva-lent in cash. The latter amounted to $125.00 and was selected by Miss Killam as her award. The next three prizes in order were diamond rings, which were won by Miss Eileen Morley, of Milford, Mrs. C G. Haskell, of South Milford, and " .Mrs. Eirnest Eyret of Minersville, respectively. SlTfh nnVa i Tl: , . all wnst-watcn, was given to Mrs. Valma Aldridge, of Milford. L. A. Wynaught presented the first winner with a tank full of gasoline. In the duration of the campaign, which covered six weeks of active work, fifty dollars in gold and a pair of shoes from Cline's were given as extra prizes. Miss Morley and Mrs. Haskell carried off honors for the second period and won the extra prizes. Much zeal was manifested by the candidates throughout the campaign and the entire town of Milford was thoroughly covered in the search for subscriptions, as well as personal soliciting in nearby towns. Mrs. Kohler did splendid work from start to finish as did all of the candidates candi-dates as much as their time and acquaintanceship ac-quaintanceship would permit. The management of the campaign and the editor of the News wish to thank the men who served in counting votes as well as the bank officials for so kindly allowing us the use of the bank at the close of the campaign. |
