Show OVERHEARD ABOUT ROADS One explanation of the poor condition of roads leading in and out of Milford has been heard and it sounds quite plausible. It was said that roads are usually worked over with scraper and drag- after a shower. As the road supervisor super-visor lives in Beaver, he starts from there to work this highway high-way westward. The condition of the. road then is such as that work upon it is productive of good results. But by the time the crew has reached the halfway mark, or about at Minersville, the road has dried out again so that the machinery ma-chinery is working over nothing but dust. Days of this well-intentioned effort brings about the present condition of the road. It has also been said that the contour of the course of the road through the canyon and down into Beaver Beav-er valley is such that it naturally makes for a better highway. high-way. Upon all of this, we cannot express a very worthwhile opinion, other than to repeat that the road has been in terrible shape. But right now, due to the prolonged dry spell, it must be said that the county roads as a whole are not very good, the roads into Beaver indicating, as well as our roads do, that the heavy pounding of trucks and autos on the baked-out earth is taking a toll at the expense of our highways. |
