A smooth scheme for separating farmers from their money has been worked with much success In South Dakota. An oily grafter calls on a farmer and mnkes a bid for his land. The "agent" promises orally that tho advertising ad-vertising money will not bo payable until tho land Is sold, but this stipulation stipula-tion is not contained in a contract that tho farmer signs. In a few days ho receives a copy ot an od and not over-courteous domand for money. It Is said that twenty-two twenty-two agriculturists wero caught with this bait In Drown County and that ono ot them gavo up $320. Others do-claro do-claro hotly that they will not pay but tboy will mako n fight In tho courts. |
