Show AFTER THE FABMEH Did you know that the farmera-the farmera-the kind of farmers who do their trading In Delta, and who make this a mighty good county in which to live and do business are the most sought-after class of people In the world? If you haven't thought about about it, listen a moment. The farmer has a solid, year-round business and his money la good money, mo-ney, nobody usually having a prior claim on it over the man who steps In and gets It, And ninety-nine time out of a hundred the men who are clamoring for the farmer's money mo-ney do not belong and do not live in this county. As a rule they have an office of some kind in a distant city. They saek out a farm paper and they get up clubs at very low ! subscription rates, sometimes offering offer-ing premiums, but always with a view to getting that paper into the farmer's home at any cost. And they fill the so-called farm papers with mail-order advertising, hoping all the time to get the farmers to swallow the bait. In most instances these alluring ads start with the words: "Send No Money," or there appears In black type the blackest type In the ad the word "Free." They insist the farmers read these ads and all their efforts at getting subscriptions for the mail-order "farm paper" are rewarded. It Is a game that Is being worked every day in this county, and It is not helping the county a whit. The men who get the money do not pay one cent of taxes to keep up the roads and Bchoolhouses in this county. coun-ty. And every dollar sent out of the county means someone must work that much harder to replace it that expenses may be met at home. If you want to take a farm paper pay your money for it and take a good one. The one that Is offered you free is apt to cost you pretty dearly before you get rid of it. |
