A meeting was had with the Utah State Auto Association, telling that body of the condition of our roads and of the fact that they can safely recommend tourists to take our routing during the present ill condition of the Lincoln Lin-coln Highway. The committees had a long talk with Mr. Walters, of the Lincoln Highway Association, who will be pleased indeed to give routings rout-ings to inquiring tourists wanting to go to California, that they may with assuranco of good roads travel this season from Salt Lake to Ely via Eureka Eu-reka and Delta. The committee feels that they have accmplloshed much, lined up information infor-mation where it will do the most good, and are very busy now logging the road and getting things smoothed down for the auto caravan that will come up June 23, 24 and 25th from Salt Lake to Ely. An inspection of Lehman's Cave will be made, and a- dandy good time had by all. Help the good cause along with your presence in the party. Further announcement next week. Dr. J, E. Broaddus was visited, but his engagements were already filled for those dates, so that we cannot have his excellent photos of Lehman's Cave as yet. But it was promised him that financial support would be given him to take the trip at any time, and the utmost courtesies will be shown him, and a substantial part of his expenses paid. " 49,824 tourists came through Utah last year; that means a million and a half to Utah's good! Is there any wonder that the whole state in every live body is out with a salt sprinkler trying to dust a little on the tail of the tourist? It pays. And our interested in-terested towns feel just the foretaste of this good mouthful and wish more. |
