Dispatches say the situation situa-tion Is becoming more grave dally because be-cause of the Orangemen's dntertnina-tlon dntertnina-tlon to prevent the Churchill Redmond meeting there on February 8. The In habitants from Queens Island and the workynen In the Harlan & Wulff's ship yard have decided to leave work on February 8 and march fifty deep through the streets leading to Ulster hall with the avowed purpose of preventing pre-venting any one from entering the building. Their pockets, as on previous pre-vious occasions, will be filled with bolts and rivets, which are hardly less formidable In their hands than bullets. In all towns within forty miles ol Belfast arrangements are being made for excursion parties of large bodies of men determined to stop the meet Ing. The London Dally Mall corre spondent ays that part of the time at all Unionist and Orange meetings Is now regularly devoted to drilling squadrons of men with a view to fur ther developments. The great fear of those responsible for the public order in Belfast Is that there may be an attack on the Roman Catholic quarter, which Is clearly defined de-fined and runs In the shape of a wedge almost tip to Ulster hall. |
