Show HAPPENINGS AT HINCKLEY Qo. E. Billings, ChronleU Representative Representa-tive Hinckley has been pretty lively th past week, Besides the basket ball game reported by our Academy reporter re-porter and the piano recital, given by Mrs. llroaddus' pupils, reported elsewhere, else-where, tho M. 1. A. Dramatic club gave a present at ion or "Cncle Josh," a comedy drama. In four acts. It was the first time the editor has had a chance of seeing a performance by the Hinckley talent and he was much pleased with It. While all did well .we think the honors were carried off by John Heeve, who represented "Uncle Josh," and Miss Mary Cropper, who took the part of the heroine. Mr. Heeve is evidently an amateur of some experience and represented the character charac-ter in a Tery life-like and natural manner. man-ner. He was always on hand In the nick of tlmo to spoil the plot of the vllllans. Miss Cropper had a Ions; part, knew it well and made a very attractive at-tractive heroine. We think with such a sweetheart, the lover could have thrown a little more ardor Into his love-making and, really ought to have taken his hat off In tho sentimental part at least. J. Fred Pack's makeup make-up as tho French count was good and the way he drew that big knife from his breast pocket was blood-curdling. Between acts Miss Justensen gave an amusing recitation about the artless art-less Angelina. Excellent music was rendered by the the M. 8. A. orchestra which 4s the best orchestra we have heard In Millard and shows that Prof. Stott, the leader, is a trained musician. musi-cian. Those composing tho orchestra are Vordo McKee and Clara Stephenson, Stephen-son, violins; Loenard Wood, clarinet; Austin Ashby, flute; Eugene Hilton, trombone; Kthel Dennett, piano. They also played for the dance held after the performance In the gymnasium, which was largely attended. The stage of tho auditorium la well arranged for giving dramatic performances perform-ances and nearly every seat in the large room was filled by the audience. Over $X0 was realized from the per-jfantJanrft' per-jfantJanrft' wliicli -I to'beapuUed U- .' 'wards paying for tho district school library. The club expected to present the play at Delta on .Tuesday evening, but they have postponed it for awhile. When It does come tho people of Ielta should come out and hear an entertaining entertain-ing phy well presented. On Friday evening another company of Hinckley amateurs will give the two-act comedy drama "Mr. Hob." This is play of a different style from "Uncle Josh," but equally entertaining and all who want to enjoy a good show should come out. |
