Show 1 i Why the Stare Twinkle. 1 Although the twinkling of the stars 5 is commonly referred to, they do not i twinkle at all. The stars are really suns that throw out light, Just as our sun lights the eartli. When the rays of light from the r stars strike the air which surrounds 3 the earth they have to pierce many little particles which are always float-- float-- ing about in the atmosphere. It is this j interference between us and the source of light which gives the ap-; ap-; pearance of twinkling. ? On certain nights the light of the i stars will appear so bright and clear ; as to attract particular attention. This 5 is because the air is so clear there is j less interference than usual with the rays of light in reaching the earth. |
