Show AGRICULTURE IN THE SOUTH Impetus Being Given to Spread Diversification Diver-sification Idea Attention to New System of Farming. Business plans are being made along conservative lines, and already there Is Impetus being given tc spread further fur-ther the diversification idea. Unless cotton this year rises to levels seen before the war, there will no doubt be further expansion of areas devoted to other crops. Even should the price mount chances favor much of the attention devoted to the new system of farming becoming permanent, says a Memphis dispatch to the New York Post. The cotton crop has been grown more economically than any in recent years and its cost is believed to be smaller than in at least a decade. Naturally this will be a factor to be considered in trying to determine at what level selling will be free. Still, the spread of diversified farming during the last year has been wonderful, and not only has the effort to grow other crops been the greatest ever made, but results are more satisfactory satis-factory and the South will be more independent from the standpoint of what It will be compelled to spend than ever before. |
