Pattl and the Burglars. Mr. Kuhe has a remsrkabls collection collec-tion of autograph letters from notable people, and among them Is one from Mme. Fattl which relates to a visit paid by burglars to Craig y Nos. It contains the following:"! suppose the wretches heard that I bad Jewels and diamonds and Imagined that I left them about loose In the house, always al-ways hanging up a few diamond neck-lares neck-lares In the hail with my bat and coat! However, It was an Inspiration on my part, going upstairs Just st that moment, and whilst In the corridor I began singing, which made them believe be-lieve I was going Into the room tbey were In. snd consequently frightened them away. I knew my voice bad done a great deal for me, but never expected It would save our houae from being robbed."
