Show Allen In the White House. . Sherman Allen, who for some years was connected with tbe Washington bureau of the New York Herald. Ik now assistant secretary to President Taft. Allen now does nut have much writing to do. but he Is known for his ability, tact and "the pleasantness ol his ways." AIbo he Is a fine looking Tellow and although perhaps It ought not to be so. this helps a lot with vis iters at the White House. When Trueman C. Newberry of De trolt was secretary of the navy. Sher man Allen was bis secretary. From that position Mr. Allen went to the bureau of the New York Herald. Pol Itlcs. like the whirligig of time, brings changes and some day probably Sher man Allen will be back In the corpi of correspondents with his assigned seats In tbe galleries of the two bouses. A word or two was said recently ol Thomas W. Brahany. "Tom" Drahany probably la thirty three years old. but he Is extraordinarily youthful In ap pearance. His head and his abilities outrun his years even though they be , thirty-three In number.
