Show New Boost for Year Around Route At a meeting of the State Road Commission held last week, the Commission designated the trail from St. George to the Arizona Ari-zona line as a state road. This is one of the bad pieces of road on the "all-year-round" auto route between Los Angeles and Salt Lake which needed attention atten-tion badly and which we are glad to see the state taking an interest inter-est in, as everyone who has gone over the all-year-round1 route declare de-clare it is the most feasible route between the two places, with better grades more open in the winter and more pleasant to travel. The people of Southern Utah, tourist travelers and Southern California people have been trying for some time to work up sufficient interest to have the road put in proper shape for auto travel and now appear to be in a fair way to realize on their efforts. Road work on this route is also being done west of the Utah state line and we hope to soon see the whole south route put in shape so that it will be an inducement for a big portion of the Southern South-ern California travel to go that way. By that time we should also hear something more of the north route out of Delta to Salt Lake City. This route has been talked of and designated as a state highway for some time and we hope to see the road officials soon take steps to open it and put it in first-class shape for travel. It will bring us about forty miles nearer the city and give all those going by the "all-year-round" route a' chance to pass thru Utah's coming granary. |
