Show Two New School Houses Last week the Millard County Board held a three days meeting at Fillmore and attended to such business as came up regularly before them. As a result of the school bond election carrying they also took action on matters pertaining thereto. The architect archi-tect who is in charge of the plans for the new Delta school house did not have all the details of the building worked out at that time so further action in this instance in-stance was delayed until the coming board meeting which will oe held on May 12th. Action was also taken in regard re-gard to building a new high school for Fillmore. Architect Nelson of Provo was awarded the contract for drawing up plans and specifications for this structure which is to cost $40,000 and will submit them to the board at their next meeting. At this meeting the plans of both buildings will be gone over and changed if necessity demands and bids will then be immediately immediate-ly called for for the erection of both buildings. Two weeks will elapse during the time of the advertising after which the contracts con-tracts will be let and work stai t-jd t-jd immediately on construction if the buildings. In the friendly suit instituted by the members of the old school board of the district in which the A. C. Nelson building is in the -ourt, ruled that the Consolidated Consolidat-ed Board had the authority to assume as-sume the $8,000 indebtedness contracted con-tracted by the A. C. N. school board but the board of the consolidated con-solidated districts will ask that the suit be carried to the higher court after which if the court rules that if the board has the right to take over the illegal debt it will be assumed. This debt was contracted at the time of building the A. C. N. building and was considered illegal ille-gal because the board of that district went beyond the law in contracting the debt in building the school house. |
