Show Delta Schools do if Excellent Work The Delta Schools closed Friday Fri-day last for the summer. Thursday Thurs-day was a gala day for the pupils pup-ils and the day was filled with events ev-ents for them. At 10 in the morning morn-ing the 8th grade girls gave the Playlets "Maidens all Forlorn" and "Murder Will Out" for the benefit of the school and the public. pub-lic. The plays were again repeated re-peated at the hall after the picture pic-ture show and the young misses miss-es did nicely in both productions produc-tions filling their places very naturally nat-urally in a manner which did credit cre-dit to them and their instructor, instruct-or, Prof. Eugene Gardner. During the day an exhibit of the work of the several grades was arranged on the wall of the Ward Hall and the display opened open-ed to the public for a review. Each grade was assigned a space and the teacher with the aid of pupils arranged the displays. These consisted of pencil and water color drawings, needle work, hand-made baskets, col , ored maps, essays and other school work. The exhibit was most excellent and a great sur- . prise as to accomplishments of ( children under the best conditions condi-tions to say nothing of the way the pupils were inconvenienc-ed inconvenienc-ed on account of.lack of school facilities fa-cilities uncongenial quarters and the shifting around of parapher-nalia parapher-nalia in use in the school. Be sides being on exhibit during the day the work was left on the walls in the evening and a crowded crowd-ed house viewed the work during the picture show. Mr. Wra. : Gardner extended an invitation to all the school children, and teachers- to be ids guests at the picture nlay. During the noon hour as the exhibits ex-hibits at the hall were being-shown being-shown punch and cake was serv- ' ed to the visitors. I In the afternoon the pupils in- dulged in various kinds of foot J races and the girls played bas- 1 ket ball. - 1 A dance for the pupils was al- so given during the afternoon 1 which closed at five thirty. i This was a memorable day for s the school kiddies and judging from the exhibits shown the 1 past year has been .a profitable one for most of them and both 's they and the teachers are to be " - congratulated on the progress j the students of the Delta school , have made, and the teachers are deserving of .the thanks of the parents of their pupils. |
