Show Big Work Soon Finished Work on the Sevier Bridge Dam is progressing rapidly and it is now estimated that construction construc-tion work will be completed by the first of June. There is water to the sixty foot level but it is being drawn off a little faster than it is accumulating, the cold spell of the past week having stopped the melting of snow in the mountains. The water will be stored to the seventy foot level should there be watei enough from the melting snow to bring it up to that level. There is ample water now in the big reservoir for all our needs. The big spillway is nearly completed and combined with thetunnel which draws the water from th't reservoir for irrigating and the extra heighth above the water line, will, it is calculated take care of all the water from a possible pos-sible cloud burst or the giving away of one of the dams above the' reservoir. The core that h being put in will eliminate the possibilities of the earth work softening from seepage or from the burrowing of animals into it. A plan is now being talked of to hold a "Dam Day" to celebrate cele-brate the completion of the big structure and give all an opportunity oppor-tunity to see the works before the last dirt is covered over the important construction work which is now being done' The date for holding the celebration cele-bration has not yet been set bul if it is carried out the time will be fixed for about two weeks from mw. Means of transportation is one of the serious matters in connection connec-tion with the affair. Autos were talked of from here but it is hardly likely that enough machines mach-ines could be had to haul the crowd from here to the dam. Then there is the possibility of securing a special train to carry the people from the valley up to Mills and then transport them from there to the dam in vehicles vehic-les of some sort. But the transportation trans-portation problem from Mills to the dam is another serious problem. |
