Show Fire Department Makes Early Call The members of the volunteer fire department responded to a call Wednesday morning, at 1:50 a. m., to put out a fire that had started in back of D. Stevens and Co. store, on Clark Street. The alarm was put in by Jack Bennett, deputy sheriff, who found that the wind had whipped whip-ped up the fire in the incinerator 'jack of the store, and blown bits out, which had dropped into papers, pap-ers, trash and weeds that were lodged lod-ged in the fence and against the oack of the buildings in that vicinity. vic-inity. Prompt action by the fire department de-partment soon had the fire out, thus preventing what could very easily have turned into a disastrous disast-rous fire. |
