Show Delta Wins 4th Place in Class B State Tourney Two Players Placed On All-State Teams Delta lost the first game of the tournament in the Class 15 division last week, but rallied to win the following two nights ami thus won fourth place in the state meet. Wasatch placed first: American Fork, second; Murray, third; Delta, fourth; Spanish Fork, fifth; and Richfield, sixth. Delta met American Fork the opening night in a nip and tuck game in which Delta played much closer to American Fork than the final score of 39 1o 33 showed. The second night Delta outplayed outplay-ed Moab completely winning easily 52 to 33. This was really Delta's night to howl and they went to town in a big way. The final night Delta met Richfield. Rich-field. in as the Tribune said, "the fastest game of the tournament," in which Delta came from behind 33-21 at the half to win 36 to 34. They held Richfield to but one point in the second half which was made from a "foul throw. According to the fans who went to Salt Lake to see the games this Delta-Rieh-field encounter was the best of the whole tournament, and Delta showed show-ed it had the fight and stamina to come through when they were badly bad-ly in the rear. The Deseret News picked D Ray Fullmer, Delta Guard, on their first All-State team. He was also the fourth highest scorer in the meet. The Tribune placed Glen Fullmer, diminutive Delta forward, on their second team. Both players were, of course, in the Class B division. A number of fans went to Salt Lake to attend the tournament and reported that at times thev were able to get in. They hope the next time that Delta, or any team from around here goes, that the tournament tourna-ment will be played in the U gym. |
