Show Three Hundred Attend Oak City Choir Banquet A banquet was given in Oak City Saturday night in honor of Mr. E. Q. Dutson, who has been the choir leader there for the past fifty years. Also honored on the same evening were George E. Finlinson, for fifty years of service, and Joshua Finlinson Fin-linson for forty years of service. Mr. Dutson was presented an ebony baton tipped with ivory, and 'a pin with five pearls on it denot- ing fifty years of faithful service. Mr. George Finlinson was also giv,-en giv,-en a pin with five pearls on it for his fifty years of faithful service, and Joshua Finlinson was given a pin with four pearls on it for his forty years of service. The banquet was sponsored by the choir to honor these men and 300 guests were invited to attend. Most of them came, as there were but few empty seats, which were attributed to the storm of that night. The Oak City Relief Society had charge of furnishing and serving the banquet, with Mrs. Alta All-dregde All-dregde as chairwoman of the menu. The hall was gaily decorated decorat-ed and large centerpieces of daffodils daffo-dils and pussy willows adorned each of the tables. Mr. George H. Anderson was the master of ceremonies. He called on various members of the group who spoke highly of the men they were honoring that night. A program was presented during the course of the banquet which consisted of short talks and musical numbers. Following the banquet a dance was held. The evening was a very inspiring one when it is considered that Oak City was honoring three men who had a total of 140 years of service behind them. Everything was well arranged and well carried out and those who were in charge of the affair are to be complimented for the very fine evening. |
