He was assigned to the 2.'lrd Marines, 11 h Division. He saw action in the cnnipaigns for the Marshall Islands, Saipan, and Tinian and was holder ol a Presidential Unit Citation. Pesides his parents he is survived by the following brothers and sisters: sis-ters: Burnis R., of Delta; Mrs. No-rine No-rine Shipley, Lynndyl. Raymond R., with the U S Merchant Marino; Georgia, Rryce R. Paul R. Julian R, and Carth, all of Oak City. Brothers, both in the Navy, have recently received promotion. Lars M. Bishop, 1H, has boon promoted to coxwaiu on the USS Meriwether, somewhere in the Pacific. This rating rat-ing is equal to a sergeant in the A i my. Lars, a grnduat e of the II II S enlisted in May, 1944. Ho received re-ceived hoot training at San Diego and advanced training at a special cox wain school in San Diego. To Fireman lie Jay H. Bishop, whose wife, Lue Rue Kvans Bishop, resides at Font ana, Cal., was promoted pro-moted at the USN Deisel School, Richmond, Va., a graduate of the 1 1 US, attended Snow College, and fulfilled a mission for the church. Filtered the service in July, 1944. Received boot training at Farara-gut, Farara-gut, Idaho, and advanced training at Croat Lakes, III. and Richmond, Va. Assigned to a patrol boat in the South Pacific in March, 1945. The boys are the sons of M-S He-ber He-ber Bishop of Hinckley, Utah. Seaman Lee Pratt is home on' leave. Ho has boon in the Philippines Philip-pines and to South America. He will report back to San Francisco after his leave. His wife, who liv-es liv-es at Tooele, is here with him. Edward Woodbury, who is a sea bee in the Navy is home on leave visiting his parents, M-S Wallace Woodbury. Pvt. Kay Bishop, son of M-S Marion Mar-ion Bishop of Salt Lake is in Hinckley Hin-ckley on furlough. Lt. Almon Robison, son of M-S G. A. Robison has left for overseas duty in Europe. He is a pilot. David Bishop of the Navy and son of Bishop and Mrs. Clark Bish- op of Oasis is in the Philippines according to word received from ; him this week. Frank H. Bishop S 3c is home on a short leave from his base at San Diego. Lowell Edwards BM 1 'c USN, son of M-S Morgan B. Edwards, spent a few days of last week in Delta and Richfield visiting relatives. rela-tives. Lowell participated in the ' battle of Pearl Harbor. His ship received re-ceived the honor of shooting down the first Jap plane in that battle. For the past three years Lowell has soon much action i the Pacific. Pa-cific. Ho has been assigned to six months shore duty at the Clearfield Clear-field Naval Supply Depot. Dewey Spor will be inducted inducted in-ducted into the armed forces Apr. 4th. This makes four brothers in one family who have been, or are in the armed services, as Ray sustained sus-tained an injury and was discharged discharg-ed and sent to school in Salt Lake C.'vy. Chad is now in training in Gergia, and Fay is in Hawaii. ;. S Sgt.' Willis E. (Bud) Robison, sonof M-S Barry Robison. of Hin-c" Hin-c" v was married March 1 to a yt-pT Sudy in Richmond, Virginia, whvi yuiid is now stationed. Bud has been overseas four years and expects an assignment in the U. S.; if so, he will visit his folks on j his way to his station. S 1 c Leon C. Theobald, stationed station-ed at Mare Island, is playing basketball bask-etball on the Storekeeper Technician Techni-cian team. They have won eight games out of nine and are leading the Yard League. Loon is high-point high-point man for the season. Tech Sgt. and Mrs. Gilbert F. Gooch, left Tuesday for Blackfoo , Idaho, to visit with the parents of Sgt. Gooch. From there they will go to Driggs to visit M-S Easton Sampson. After their visit there they will go to Sacramento, where Sgt.
