Mrs. Julia Peterson Robinson, on early pioneer of Delta, is shown in an airplane, about to take off from the Delta airport on her Mrs. Julia Peterson Robinson celebrated cel-ebrated her 82nd birthday on last Thursday February 21, by taking an airplane ride over Delta and the surrounding country. Mrs. Robinson Rob-inson had made several other trips by air before, and enjoyed them enough to want to take this trip for a birthday treat. The pilot was Eddie Coleman, flight instructor of the Del-Aero Service. Mrs. Robinson is one of Delta's first women pioneers, coming to this country in 1907, with her husband, hus-band, John Hector Peterson, from Wayne county. They had a farm on the South Tract, and for some time, while the dam was being built, Mrs. Robinson cooked for the workers. 25 to 30 or more at a meal, the meal cooked and served in a long tent she had procured. She ran her tent restaurant both at the Diversion dam and at the UB dam. She was always an active church worker, and was an officer of the first Relief Society in Delta. Mrs. Robinson has spent a good many years of her life in this country, coun-try, watching and helping it develop. de-velop. Mr. Peterson died many years ago, and after some years she was married to Quint Robinson and they have continued making their home here. It was most interesting inter-esting to Mrs. Robinson to fly over the town and farm Thursday and notice the changes made in her span of years. A birthday party to honor Mrs. Robinson was given on Sunday afternoon, aft-ernoon, at the home of her daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. Leonard Broderick. Those of her children who live in Delta, and her grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren great-grandchildren spent the day with her. They were Mr. and Mrs. Del Searle, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Broderick, Brod-erick, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Fullmer, Mr. and Mrs. John Peterson and their families. The time was spent in recalling old times, and Mrs. Peterson told them many stories of the early days in Delta. A delicious and bounteous dinner was served to 40 guests. Mrs. Robinson has 56 gandchild-ren, gandchild-ren, and 47 great-grandchildren. She had 9 grandsons in the service. |
