Show Stake Leadership Meet Held in Delta Feb. 25 Four members of the General Board of the YMMIA and the YW MIA were guests at Deseret stake leadership meeting held in the Dl-ta Dl-ta First ward chapel on Monday February 25. Axel A. Madsen and M. Elmer Christensen, representing the YMMIA and Norma P. Anderson Ander-son and Verna W. Goddard representing repre-senting the YWMIA. Mr. Christensen and Mr. Madsen both are working in the scouting program, although Mr. Madsen has for many years previous been a member of the special interest committee of the general board. Both these men met in the departmental depart-mental work with the scouters and gave helps to these men in their work. They commended highly the scout program as it is being carried car-ried out in Deseret stake. Norma P. Anderson is the general gener-al board Gleaner Girl leader. In the departmental work she met with the leaders of the Gleaner Girls and the Junior Girls. She stressed the importance of keeping the girls of this age interested in the MIA work. Verna W. Goddard, first counselor coun-selor of the YWMIA, spoke in the departmental groups of the presidencies presi-dencies of the MIA. With the president's pres-ident's department also met the music and drama workers. Mrs Goddard spoke upon the importance import-ance of keeping the MIA program going throughout the summer with acivities from each cultural art group being recommended. Thru questioning different members of her audience she located the different dif-ferent problems which face the several wards in the stake, offering offer-ing possible solutions to these difficulties. dif-ficulties. She stated that "Whatever "What-ever the activity or the lesson in the mutual work, its main purpose is for furthering a testimony of the gospel, and toward this end each leader, whatever be his position, should work." Mr. Madsen stated in his speech that the MIA program was to make us become alive to the beautiful bea-utiful and the true and to keep them alive. " The MIA program," he said, "takes us away from the hum-drum of life and opens our eyes to see and our ears to hear the beautiful." The next Deseret stake leadership leader-ship meeting will be held on Monday, Mon-day, April 1 at 8 p. m. in the First ward hall. All ward MIA workers are urged to be in attendance. |
