Show Leamington . . Mrs. Leonard Dutson On Saturday niuht. Dec. 29 a welcome honif: parly was given in honor of the .service men by the towspeople. It started at 6 p. m. wilh a baii'juct. to which everyone was invited, and a large crowd ai tended. Alter supper a rlanee was held with music from Nephi. Many people from the surrounding vicinity vi-cinity all ended and the hall was jammed, it being the largest dancing dan-cing event since the town was begun. be-gun. The service men who attended were Bus Nielson. Kent Larsen, fleorge Kvans, Gordon Nielson, Glen, Coy d and Dene Harder, Kei t h Nielson, Robert Anderson, Lee Williams, Wil-liams, Keith and Edward Stewart, Stew-art, Harlan and Sterling Nielson, Marlin Nielson, Floyd Eradfield, Ben Stevenson, the three Green-leaf Green-leaf brothers. Everyone attending had an enjoyable en-joyable time and it will be long remembered. M-S Alma Harder spent a very happy Christmas, as they had all of their boys home. Dene and Glen have been released from the services and Boyd is home on furlough. fur-lough. Also their daughter Ranee is home from Tooele to spend the holidays. It is the first time the family has all been together since the war started. On Christmas eve a program was sponsored by the elementary school children. Each one took a part and the evening was well enjoyed. en-joyed. The program ended with the song I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas, sung by all the school children. After the program Santa Claus visited with the children and treated everyone with candy and nuts. M-S Esklund from Scipio attended attend-ed the dance, having had two of their sons there, who have just been released from the service, & are Keith and Edwin Stewart. M-S Rodney Ashby from Manti have been visiting wdth their children chil-dren at Delta and Lynndyl and also al-so to attend the dance. The three Greenleaf boys are guests at the home of their grandmother, grand-mother, Mrs. May Overson. They have been released from the Army. Gertrude Overson, from Delta, and Helen Hansen from Scipio, are here for a few days visiting with relatives. Mrs. Rex Peterson came and got 'her little grandson Richard, who has been staying with his great-grandparents great-grandparents for the winter and took him home to Scipio to spend Christmas with his little sister, Bunny. Mrs. Myrtle Nielson had their three sons home for Christmas. Russell and Roland drove from San Francsco in their car, where they are both working. They left for Frisco Sunday. Robert has just been released from the Army and is now employed employ-ed at Hill Field. Mrs. Clinton Nielson and Mrs. Gene Grigla have new baby boys born Dec. 21. Both are in the same hospital and are doing fine. M-S Than Ashby were visitors in town during the holidays. Every one was glad to see them. Mr. Adams and daughter Janette, and sister of Mrs. Clinton Nielson, are caring for the two children while Thelma is in the hospital. They are from Salt Lake City. M-S Leonard Dutson have just turned home from San Francisco where they spent Christmas with their daughters, Donna and husband, hus-band, and Arlene and Mrs. Gene Dutson. They had a very pleasant pleas-ant trip and visited many places of interest, including Coit Tower on Telegraph Hill, where a marvelous mar-velous view of all San Francisco and the bay area, also the federal feder-al prison, could be seen. The tower tow-er is built on a tall hill and is 250 feet high. They also went to Chinatown Chi-natown and Fisherman's Wharf, and bought some interesting souvenirs sou-venirs there. They also crossed the I I beautiful Golden Gate Bridge and saw a large ship coming in from overseas under the Golden Gate1 i Bridge. They drove down to the beach and in the Cliff House by the ocean spent many hours enjoying en-joying all the amusements, watching watch-ing the large waves on the ocean. The bay is just a few rods behind the home of their daughter Donna and there was over 300 ships loaded load-ed with servicemen stranded and waiting for transportation to their homes. It was a very pretty sight from the window to see all those ships anchored in the bay. Merrill Dutson has been home on a furlough to spend Christmas day with his parents, M-S Rulon Qut-son. Qut-son. Pie arrived Christmas day and left on Saturday for Shepard Field, Texas, where he is in the air corps. Virginia Nielson is home for a few days visiting with her parents and left Monday for Salt Lake. M-S Oxel Johnson had their dau-ghtter, dau-ghtter, Varda, home for Christmas from Hill Field. M-S Clifford Bennett and children chil-dren from Tooele were visitors at the home of her parents, M-S Charlie Williams. Sgt Dene Dutson. left Salt Lake Monday for Texas where he will report for duty, after a pleasant furlough. He expects to be released releas-ed in a couple of weeks. Fay Overson is home to spend the holidays with his parents, M-S Clyde Overson. He is in the Merchant Mer-chant Marines. The Leamington Camp of the Daughters of Pioneers held their Christmas social in the Relief Society So-ciety rooms Dec. 18. Captain Ruth Finlinson, Lt. Erva Bradfield, Gladys Glad-ys Mackleprong and Sec. Wadna Nielson were in charge. After the program games were played. The program consisted of prayer by Erma Nielson; quartet by Laura Lau-ra and Jay Nielson, Wanda Niel- . son and Alton Bigelow; lesson by Gladys Mackleprong; saxaphone solo, Wilma Lovell. There were 24 i present. i M-S Jos. T. Finlinson had the ! following children home for Christmas: Christ-mas: Miss Elizabeth Finlinson, Mrs. Susan Weagle, M-S Rich Finlinson, of Ogden. M-S Fred Finlinson from Murray; Burns Finlinson, of Cedar City. A delightful time was had. First time the family has been together for some time. Mrs. Susan Weagle has returned home from Berkeley, Cal., and will remain here until Mr. Weagle is discharged from the Navy. Lee Williams was home for the holidays to visit with his parents. He is attending the BAC at Cedar City. |
