Show Navy Enlistments Are Uurged Of Young Men The Navy is now accepting men from the age of 17 through 21 for i's V-5 class tN'avnl Aviation Cart; Ca-rt; tl. Previously the a:e linul w;'s 19. The new provision makes eligible eli-gible those men 2i) and 21 years old who will have completed three terms of college by Feb. 25. The V-5 program offers exceptional excep-tional advantage for men who pro-j pro-j pose to make aviation their career as no other pilot-training course in the world surpasses the Navy V-5 program in thoroughness of preparation or in the excellence of the end product, a Naval Pilot Officer. The Naval Preparatory Program offers up to four terms in college work at a nationally known college, col-lege, during which time the candidate, can-didate, as Apprentice Seaman, receives re-ceives $50 a month pay. Men who successfully complete their college work become Aviation Avia-tion Cadets, at $75 a month and maintenance. As pilot officers the pay is $225 a month. The expansion expan-sion of peacetime aviation into the fields of public service will require highly trained personnel, and the V-5 Program offers the training for that skill. Fort Douglas, Utah Discharged from the Army under the adjusted service rating plan at the Fort Douglas separation center is Cpl. James W. Cook, son of William L. ! Cook, Delta, Utah. Incidental to his 19 months service ser-vice overseas he is authorized to wear the European and Asiatic-Pacific Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations Ribbon, Rib-bon, American Theater Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Vic-tory Medal. Fort Douglas, Utah, 23 Dec Discharged Dis-charged today from the Army at ' j the F'ort Douglas separation center ' under the adjusted service rating plan was Pfc. James N. Taylor, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Piatt Taylor of Delta, Utah. Pfc. Taylor, who served 17 months in the Philippines and Japan Ja-pan with the 81st Wildcat is authorized au-thorized to wear the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon and Victory Medal as well as the Philippines Liberation Libera-tion Ribbon and Combat Infantry Badge. He entered the Army 4 June, in 1942. Ada Bennett S 1c received her honorable discharge from the Navy on Dec. 19, 1945, and arrived home in time for Christmas. She has worked in a Navy communication office the past two years at Washington, Wash-ington, D. C. Lt. (j.g.) La Mont L. Bennett has been assigned as post director on Buchner Bay at Okinawa. He has been overseas one year. T 5 Clarence B. Bliss was honorably honor-ably discharged from the Army at Fort Douglas on Dec. 28. Hens the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Bliss of Orem, and he served 23 months in Italy and Germany with the 302 Sig Co. TCW and is authorized to wear the ETO ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Meritorious Meritori-ous Unit Citation and 4 campaign stars. Before entering the service he was a photostat operator, Salt Lake City. Fort Douglas, Utah, Dec. 23,1945 Discharged today from the Army at the Fort Douglas separtion center cen-ter was T5 John W. Dewsnup, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dewsnup, Deseret, Utah. T5 Dewsnup, wdio served 11 months in France and Germany, with the Co. B 270th Eng. C. Bat. talion is autorized to wear the European Eu-ropean Theater of Operations Ribbon, Rib-bon, Good Conduct Medal, American Ameri-can Theater Ribbon, and Victory Ribbon, as well as the Stars for Rhineland and Central Europe. Before entering the Army Jan. 7, 1944, Dewsnup was employed by himself. His wife, the former Bessie Mitchell, Mit-chell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cleveland Mitchell, of Delta. Utah, has been making her home at Delta, Del-ta, Utah. Fort Douglas, Utah, 12-23-45 Discharged Dis-charged today from the Army at the Fort Douglas separation center under the adjusted service rating plan was Pvt. Leonard C. Lam-bright Lam-bright son of Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Lambiight. Pvt. Lamhright, who served 8 months in Ft. Bragg, N. C. with the Hq. and Hq. Det, is authroized to wear the Victory Ribbon. Before entering the Army May 5. 1945, Lamhright was employed as a cook at Lynndyl, Utah. His wife the former Zola McClel-lan. McClel-lan. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Wil-ford McClellan of Delta, Utah has been making her home at Delta. Lt. Joseph Peterson, who has been in the south Pacific with the air corps, spent a day in Delta during ! Christmas week with his aunt, ; Mrs. Norma Wright. His fiancee, Miss Betty Jones, was with him. i Lt. Peterson was on his way from Santa Barbara to Salt Lake City , 1 to spend a leave, and returned on jthe 30th to California. |
