Show D H S Alumni Hold Successful Banquet Friday 250 Attend First Banquet Since Beginning of War The Delta high school alumni held their first banquet since the beginning of the war last Friday night at the high school. Two hundred hun-dred fifty guests were present. The evening was turned over to Toastmaster Ward Killpack, by the alumni president, Evan Gardner, and a short program was held during dur-ing the course of the banquet. At the close of the program both the civilian students of the high school and those who entered the services and later died, were honored as a special service. Their names were read and candles lighted in their honor. The past officers of the association associa-tion had served for four years, and at the close of the evening's business bus-iness new officers were elected to head the group for the coming year. The newly elected officers were Willard Stephenson, president; presi-dent; Thurman Moody, viee-presi-' dent; La Priel Mortensen, secretary, secre-tary, board members, Marvin Og-den, Og-den, Mary Wright, Frances Whicker, Whick-er, Bernard Munster, Harold Wind, and Lois Maxfield. The outgoing officers were Evan Gardner, president; Josephine Mortensen, vice-president, Virginia ' Lyman, secretary; board members, Owen Gardner, Frank Lyman, La Rue Nickle. Orvetta Nickle, Neva Robinson, Viola Kessler, Mildred Stutz, Gordon Barney, Fred Turner, and Ferrell Walker. The banquet was prepared by Leland Sanderson and served by a group of high school girls. After the banquet the tables were cleared away and the rest of the evening spent dancing. It was a highly successful banquet ban-quet and those who had it in charge are to be highly complimented compli-mented for the splendid evening. |
