Show -Oak City Mae H. Shipley Sunday evening services were given over to the Mutual to give the year's awards to MIA girls. Stake President Delia Johnson presented pre-sented the awards and also gave a very fine talk encouraging MIA work and clean lives for young people. Mrs. Harriett Finlinson gave a talk "Why She Wants Her Girl to Follow the MIA Work." Her daughter, Judith, told the requirement require-ment of getting the awards. A duet, "I Have a Testimony," was sung by Sandra and Janet Finlinson, Finlin-son, accompanied by Glenda Tall-bot. Tall-bot. The Bee Hive girls ang two numbers. Pres. Mary Anderson spoke a few minutes encouraging all to" attend the MIA this winter. Chorister Meredith Anderson con ducted the singing, Margene Anderson An-derson acting as organist. The Oak City choir members gave a party Thursday night honoring hon-oring Eddie Q. Dutson, George E. Finlinson and Thelma Dutson. the retired organist of the choir. A program, refreshments and games were enjoyed by 52 people present. Mr. and Mrs. Wildon Day from Cedar City were Oak City visitors Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday they went to Salt Lake where Mr. Day is taking eye treatments. Mrs. Mary Finlinson went to Salt Lake with them for a few days' visit with her daughter. Melva is staying stay-ing at her mother's home until her return. Miss LaMae Finlinson has been employed at Cedar City with the Board of Education and now has been transferred to the state office of-fice in the Capitol Building. Miss Elaine Sheriff spent last week visiting in Salt Lake City. Misses Genevieve and Avis Anderson An-derson were home from Salt Lake the last weekend. Mrs. Angeline Mecham from Tro pic visited relatives in Oak City. Miss Johannah Alldredge visited her parents Saturday and Sunday. She is attending Snow College at Ephraim this school year. J Mr. and Mrs. Parley Elder are at Manti doing temple work htis week. Pfc. Calvin Dutson is home for a month's furlough. He is stationed station-ed at Fort Worden, Wash. Gary Roper is a student at the BYU this winter. He was home on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. -Junior Anderson and children from Idaho visited a few days in Oak City. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Olson and ohildren spent a few days visiting in Beaver. Mrs. Susan Shipley visited in Salt Lake City Saturday and Sunday. Sun-day. She returned Sunday with Willburn Olson, who was also a Salt Lake visitor. Oak City is happy over the oiling oil-ing of the streets, which is near-ing near-ing completion. |
