' i !From the Files.. ..I i DOINGS AT DELTA ! Two carloads of immigrant movables mov-ables were unloaded here last week. They came from California. Mr. E. H.A Detweihler, of Steamboat Steam-boat Springs, Colo., arrived here Thursday with an immigrant car. His family came in on the train Saturday. I Mr. Wesley Lackyard of Los Angeles An-geles has moved to Delta to make it his home. He came last Thursday. Thurs-day. Mr. Lackyard is a jeweler and watchmaker by trade. He will have his shop in connection with the Arcade Furniture Co. Mr. Lack-yard Lack-yard should do well at his business as there is not a first-class jeweler on this side of the county. Work is being pushed on the new hotel as fast as possible. The lumber lum-ber has .not yet arrived, so thai is delaying them some. The building build-ing is to be a two-story frame structure, with 15 rooms, besides two bath rooms, linen closet, hallways hall-ways and basement. There will be a lobby, dinning room, kitchen, living liv-ing room, two bedrooms and a men's wash room on the lower floor. Nine bedrooms linen closet, ladies' wash room and bath on the second floor. Last Monday the Delta Company loaded one of their automobiles on a flat car and sent it to Salt Lake City to be overhauled and repaired. Even though the people of West Delta have no amusement hall they do not lack for social entertainments. enter-tainments. Besides the pleasant party at Jacob De Brees', already noted ,A1 Watts had a party at which every one greatly enjoyed themselves. The last one was held on Saturday evening at the home of J. J. Clark. About twenty of the neighbors were present and they were entertained with music and dancing, and during the evening refreshments were served. Mr. Clark is a great performer on the fiddle and he gave the old-fashioned tunes in such lively style that it set everybody's feet to beating time if they didn't dance. Last Sunday night the depot at Delta was broken into and $350 in gold coin was taken from the express ex-press box. A carpenter who had been working for Marshall & Knight Kni-ght is the one who is charged with the robbery. The man was standing by the side of the express car Sunday morning and saw the package handed to the agent. So Sunday evening during the absence of the agent hq broke into the car and with the help of wire pliers pried open the flimsy express box that contained the money, lhe pliers were identified by H. A. Knight as belonging to the carpenter. carpen-ter. He also stole a horse and buggy bug-gy from Fred Barben to make his get-away in. This he tied up down by Oasis. The horse and buggy were located early Monday morn-inn. morn-inn. At the time of this writing nothing has been learned of his whereabouts. Sheriff Black is working wor-king on the case. OCCURENCES AT OAK CITY Great improvements have been taking place since the last writing Peter Nielsen is improving the near , by business district by erecting a fine dwelling house.
