Show Hold Services Thursday For Donald Townsend Funeral services for Donald Asa Townsend, 47, well-known Delta builder and 'farmer, will be held Thursday at 2 p. m. at the Delta Second ward chapel. Mr. Townsend died at the family home in Delta at 11:45 a. m. Monday. He was born June 24, 1903, at Albie Iowa, a son of Joseph A. and Carrie Tucker Townsend. He had lived in Delta as a boy with his parents and brother from 1917 to 1926. His father was a carpenter carpen-ter and did considerable building around Delta. From his father he had learned the building trade as a young man. He was married in 1922 to I. C. Carter, of Hinckley, and in 1926 the couple moved to California. There Mr. Townsend was employed as a automobile mechanic and radio technician, and later engaged engag-ed war defense work. He returned with his family to Delta in January of 1946 and bought bou-ght a farm on the North Tract and built a home in Delta. In the years following he had done much building build-ing in the community where he was regarded as an exceptionally skilled and experienced workman. He was building a new home for himself at the time of his death. His health had been poor for the past month or more. Surviving are his Wife, at Delta, and three sons, Keith J. Townsend, Los Angeles, Cal., Donald Carl Townsend and Jack Dale Town-send, Town-send, both of Delta; three grandchildren; grand-children; his mother, at Delta, and one brother, Paul Townsend, Ventura, Ven-tura, Cal. Burial will be in the Delta city cemetery, under direction of L. N. Nickle and sons. |
