Show Boys' State Is Now in Session At Camp Viliiams Fourteen from west Millard are among the 300 Utah boys now registered re-gistered at Boys State, encamped at Camp Williams. They are Dick Davis, Jay Warner, and Dale Bliss, delegates from American Legion Post 89, and Lloyd Warner, Edward Skidmore, Stanley Black, Del Ray Nielson, Clarence Prestwich, Keith Mortensen, Bill Starley, D arrell Cropper, Kenneth Daly, Lyn Prestwich Prest-wich and Billie Brumley, sponsored by Post 117. Sessions opened Monday at Camp Williams, with physical examinations ex-aminations and assignment of the boys to cities, counties and political politi-cal parties. Twelve third class cities, cit-ies, and six counties will be organized or-ganized and boys have an opportunity oppor-tunity to learn self-government at first hand. Boys State runs two weeks. Swimming, volley ball, horseshoe horse-shoe pitching and other contests are scheduled on the recreational program, with a final contest on July 21. Otto A. Wiesley, president, Utah Boys State Inc., supervises the program, pro-gram, assisted by a large staff. June Hinckley, Western Auto Store, I. O. O. F. Lodge No. 59, Delta Drug Co, Delta Auto Supply, Sup-ply, D. Stevens & Co., Elwood Mor tensen, Verdon Davis, Cecil Warner War-ner and Oren Bliss. In elections Tuesday 10 of 12 cities were set up for self government govern-ment and three of the mayors were elected from the west Millard Mil-lard delegation. Edward Skidmore, son of Mr. and Mrs. Evan Skidmore, Skid-more, is mayor of Wiesley city. Lloyd Warner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Claud Warner, is mayor of Dem-ing Dem-ing city. Lyn Prestwich, son of Mrs. Abbie Prestwich, is mayor of Ballif city. |
