Simpson of Lynndyl, announce the engagement and coming marriage of their daughter, Janeane to Don Williams, of Leamington. The wedding date M is set for May 13. I 0 Perianal fattenedt Mr. and Mrs. Ray Armstrong of Chandler, Arizona, announce the birth of a daughter March 3. The baby is a grandchild of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Bunker, of Delta. Mrs. Bunker went to Arizona Saturday to visit the new arrival. The long weekend between the 'quarters at the BAAC in Cedar' City brought a number of students home. Among those were Rayda Bishop, Ora Mae Bishop, Kathryn Pace, Erma Jean Bennion, Carmen Rose, Zoe Porter, Louise Skidmore, Joe Barney, Lee Ray McAllister, Richard Christensen, Kenneth May, and Kenneth Porter. The calendar year 1948 was the first full year since 1942 in which sugar was neither under price con-trol nor distributed in the United States under the point rationing system. Total civilian was about consumption seven million tons - - a new record. Mr. and Mrs. James Barnes and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Davidson, from Lark, came to Delta Saturday to visit ther father, Thomas W. Hop-jkin- s, who has been ill. Mrs. David-iSo- n remained through this week, while the others returned to Lark. Mr. Hopkins is slightly improved this week. Dr. and Mrs. Theodore Shoppe, and daughter, Vici Sue, from Span- ish Fork, made a weekend visit in Delta, guests of Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Day. H. E. Tanner, a former Deltan, and son of Parley Tanner, was in Delta this week, bringing in bees from the Dixie country. Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Bennett an-nounce he birth of a grandchild, the baby girl born March 3 to Mr. and Mrs. LaVoy Brunson in the Fillmore hospital. ,Mr. and Mrs. Lafe Nielson and their mother, Mrs. Emma Nielson, visited in Salt Lake City from Thursday to Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Speelman, of Terreton, Idaho, were Delta visitors this week. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Dearderi, M and Mrs. Vivian Dearden and Mrs. Blanche Yersin, of Garrison, were in Fillmore on Tuesday of last week, to attend he funeral services of their aunt, Mrs. Isabell Dearden Swallow. . Orran Ashby, from Phoenix, Ariz., is spending this week in Delta ' on business at Ashby's Inc. Luncheon was served at 1:30 p. m., and Rook played through the afternoon. Club members there were Lola Dalton, Ava Starley, Pearl Snow, Violet Snow, Norma Wright, Margaret Gardner, Ora Gardner, Maline Gard ner, and Gertrude Western. Guests were Lucile Hortin, Carol Schlappi and Zola Wright. High scores were held by Maline Gardner and Carole Schlappi, while Mrs. Dalton held low. Serve Steaks To Mustangs. After the Hinckley-Milfor- d Game Tuesday night in Delta, the victor-ious Mustangs were entertained at a steak supper at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hardy, in Hinckley. Guests were Coach Talmage Christensen and Mrs. Christensen, and Mr. and Mrs. Ross Hilton. Team members persent were Dale Love, Jeff Carter, Warren Peterson, El-vi- n Tanner, Duane Moody, Eldon Cahoon, Garry Hardy, June Hep-wort- Dale Bliss, Duane Stewart and Lee Davis. Tally Tab Club Venese Taylor entertained the Tally Tab Club at her home Wed-nesday evening. Lunch was served to club members Nelda Evans, Vera Giles, Zada Shields, Helen Fowles, Marie Jensen, Vilda Perkins, Grace Fowles, and the hostess Venese Taylor. Pinochle was played and high score was held by Marie Jensen, second high by Vera Giles and low by Vilda Perkins. Mr. and Mrs. George Shaw of Garrison, formerly of Fillmore, an-nounce the birth of a son March 2. The mother and baby are in the Ely hospital. Mr. and Mrs. R. V. Taggart went to Salt Lake City Tuesday on a short trip. Lt. M. David Baker from Rand-olph Field arrived at the Delta air port Thursday night. He returned on Sunday after a visit with his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred L. Baker , and family. He flew an army plane, f an AT-- Hinckley Mrs. Harriet Spendlove Sunday evening the program was given by the Relief Society. It was an unusaully good meeting. Beulah Balck, Relief Society pres-ident, conducted the meeting which consisted of Congregational sing-ing; a vocal trio by Julia Bliss, Bertha Love, accompanied by Ruth Talbot; a talk by Beulah Black. Esther Swensen gave the main talk of the evening of "America, The Cradle of Liberty". Dana Bish-op gave a musical reading '"Fabric of Freedom, With Ruth Talbot the organ. This was folowed by an organ and piano duet by Ruth Talbot and Bertha Love, song by the congregation. Closing prayer was offered by Mrs. Mary Reeve. Mr. ad Mrs. Carlos Bishop and son of Cedar City spent the week end ajt their home in Hinckley. Carlos is attending school there. Joy Stewart, who also attends school in Cedar City, was home for the week end at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Stewart. Mr. and Mrs. Lafe Nielson and Mrs. Emma Nielson spent a few days of this week visiting in Salt Mr! and Mrs. Cluff Talbot left early Wednesday morning for Ced-ar City. Cluff will attend a three-da- y school there on how to take care of farm tractbrs. He will then give these lessons in Hinckley when he returns home. Mrs. Talbot will spend her time at the home of Mr. and Mrs. o Rigby. Bert Faris, who is employed at TOD Park was home for the week-end with his family. Mr. Blaine Robinson spent part of last week in Denver attending the Rocky Mountain Farmers' Un. Conference. Mrs. Belva Morris entertained the Rook club at her home last Wednes day. 24 of her friends enjoyed a delicious luncheon and a delight-ful evening of playing Rook. |
