OCR Text	Show OUTPOST IN JEOPARDY Reds Covet Singapore, British Stronghold British power has been challenged chal-lenged again in Singapore. From the walls, pictures of Chiang Kai-shek Kai-shek are being torn down and pictures pic-tures of Mao Tse-tung, Communist, are being tacked furtively. Britisli rule was flaunted once before. Last summer the Chinese Communist high command ordered the Oinpse Reds in Singapore to switch from agitation to direct action. The British acted swiftly in the face of rioting and shooting, seizing seiz-ing Communist leaders and hanging hang-ing some of them'. Communist power pow-er was broken in the city. Singapore is really two cities mixed together a Chinese city and a British city.
