The National Soil Conservation Act was passed in 1933, and each state passed its own State Soil Conservation Laws to fit its own needs. Utah State Laws were pas-' sed in March, 1937. The Miners-ville Miners-ville Soil Conservation District, the first in the state, waws organized under State Laws in July, 1937. How successful a district becomes j will depend on how active the jj the board members are in their !' supervisor jobs. The local board ll. by the National Law, can ask for J assistance from any and all State and Federal agencies in the field ., of soil and water conservation to k set up and administer their pro- igram. The Soil Conservation Service in the Dept. of Agriculture was set up by the National Law and char ged with the responsibility of con serving on soil and water of privately-owned lands. The local board can ask for help for the Sec. of Agriculture, and it will be given insofar as funds are available. This consists of technically trained men in the field of agriculture, demonstration seed, trees, and equipment to carry car-ry on the work. The Work Group Office will assist as-sist farmers in he Delta, East Mill ard, Beaver Milford and Miners-ville Miners-ville Districts. These five districts have asked for help from the Soil Conservation Conservat-ion Service to carry out needed soil and water conservation. The five boards of supervisors meet regularly each month to determine work to be done and priority of work scheduled. In an article to follow later, we will discuss the organization and work of each district in the two counties. |
