Show Oasis Mrs La Veda Bishop Sunday evening a Court of Honor Hon-or was held in Oasis ward, in connection con-nection with sacrament meeting. The program was outstanding, and the first in Oasis since the night of Pearl Harbor. Scoutmaster, Scoutmast-er, Howard Roundy conducted this special program, given by boys who were awarded their Tendei-foot Tendei-foot badges. On the program was Voy Stewart, to talk on Scouting Melvin Memmott sang a song, accompanied ac-companied by his mother Mrs. Lily Memmott. Dick Willoughby re cited a poem, Gerald Bishop sang a solo, and Grant Memmott told a Pouter Ben Robison awarded badges and made a few remarks. Arthur Reeve, district chairman gave encouraging counsel. Waldo Warnick and Lionel Taylor, commissioners, com-missioners, were present. The benediction ben-ediction was given by Keith Stan-worth Stan-worth We want to see this Scout Troop 146 accomplish the goal of Eagle Scouts. Tuesday evening they held an outing, and passed some of their requirements. Thursday afternoon of last week Eric Gillen was guest of honor at a party given by his mother, Mrs. Deon Gillen, to celebrate cele-brate his 5th birthday. 30 youngsters young-sters enjoyed the afternoon. But ,t. t thn 1; nr 20 mothers on the Q. T. the 15 or 20 mothers who were there as chauffeurs and chaperones had the most fun. Well anyway, the children liked the ice cream and cake. And to sum it all up, a good time was had by all Another birthday party was that of Miss Bonnie Rae Lovell, who was 6 years old Tuesday. Her mother, Mrs. Ray Lovell, did the entertaining, and all the children for miles around were there. Mrs. Biah Sjostrom reports that the cancer drive in Oasis is under way, and she and her helpers are pleased with the response and success they are receiving. Lets all help this worthy cause with contributions. Mr. and Mrs. Val Styler received word Monday that a new grandson was added to their family group. Bishop and Mrs. Arlo Messinger of Beaver are the proud parents. Mother Mot-her and baby are doing will in the Cedar City hospital. Mrs. Styler will leave in a few days to visit them and help care for them after af-ter they are released from the hospital. Mrs. Cilia Christensen and Mrs. Ella Christensen went to Salt Lake last Tuesday on a shopping tour returning Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Norval Christensen have added to their responsibilities by undertaking to care for 2550 8-weeks turkeys. Now that, is e-nough e-nough work to keep them out of mischief all summer. Nog can't go very far from home, as he can still hear those poults screaming their heads off. So he might as well be on the job and see for himself that they do all right. And of course Ella is in her glory, nursing nur-sing them along, performing ap-pedectomies ap-pedectomies and tonsillectomies, or their equivalent in the turkey-world. |
