Mrs Bunker was taken to the LDS hostiital Sunday for observation and medical treatment. ) Mrs Fred Hedquist, of Provo, a Haueh'ter of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Mortensen, spent the weekend visi-ting in Delta. Mr and Mrs. Almon Robinson, of Salt Lake City, were weekend visi-tors with Mrs. Robinson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Del Searle. Mel Lyman was home this week for a visit with his father, E. L. Lyman. Mel is a student in the medical school at the University of Idaho. The Fullmer cousins, DRay, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Fullmer, and Glen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Fullmer, were home from the BYU for a weekend visit. (inson, Mr. and Mrs. Don T. The ceremony took place at the home of the parents of the bride's par- ents March 11. Mrs. Barnett is a former student of Delta schools and of the BYU at Provo. For her wedding she chose a suit of blue with a cor-Isa-of gardenias and red rosebuds. The young couple will make their home in Salt Lake City. Takes Coairses In Salt Lake Wells Wood, sent by the Pace Motor Co.upany, and Ladd Brod-eric- k, from the Farmers' Supply, are spending this week in Salt Lake City for special training I' ourses. Wells is studying radio at the school provided by the Chev-- I rolet company, and Ladd is at the ractor school of the John Deere company. CARD Or THANKS ... Will 90E3sr "Home Coming Week" "Home Coming Week" or "Come Home To Utah Week" will be pson-sore- d by the Sons of Utah Pioneers between July 18 and 24, as one of the organization's major 1948 pro-jects, it was announced today by I. A. Smoot Member of the Advis-ory Board, Sons of Utah Pioneers. The organization will urge form-- I er Utahns, now living elsewhere, to spend their vacations in Utah during that week. They will be urged to visit the State's parks and recreational areas and to at-tend celebrations in t,heir former home communities during Pioneer week. Residents of the State are asked ;by Sons of Utah Pioneers' officials to arrange for family reunions and other such events to be held dur-ing the week. Sons of Utah Pio-neers' chapters throughout the State are likewise urged to con-duct special programs and con-duct education programs to help Utahns become better acquainted with their o wn State. Pre-sent were Thelma Seegmiller, Mal- - me Gardner, Lola Dalton, Pearl Snow, Ora Gardner, Margaret Gard-ner and Gertrude Western, club members, and guests were Harriet Eliason, Alta Ashby, Evelyn Mor-ris and Lois Maxfield. At the Rook tables high score awards went to Mrs. Eliason and Maline Gardner, while Ora Gardner held low score. Paul Snow Spent a few days in Delta on business this week. Rose Robins, of Scipio, is visiting in Delta this week with her son, Kenith Robins and family. Mrs. Anita Crawford spent the first part of the week in Salt Lake City and attended a meeting Mon-do- y for office personnel of Chevro-let dealers. Carl Nixon Proves Cooking Skill On Saturday night, March 13, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Nixon had as their dinner guests, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Stanworth, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Nel-son and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rob-inson, of Delta, and Mr. and Mrs. Mark Johnson of Holden. The men had challenged the women at playing One High Rook to see who gave the dinner. The ladies won, so it fell to Carl's lot to cook the dinner, but he didn't feel so bad when he received many compliments on his cooking, es-- 1 pecially the .delicious steaks and pie. At the table the men asked for his pie recipe so he insisted that each tell how he thought it was made. One wouldn't think men could be so dumb when it comes to cooking. After dinner the evening was spent visiting and playing One High. Thank to Carl for such a nice time say the ladies. A number of articles were sold at auction and others bought from the booths. Re-freshments were also sold. A good crowd attended and seemed to en-joy the dance. Mr. and Mrs. Elvon Anderson, of Provo, visited over the weekend with relatives. BYU students who came home for the weekend, were: Gene and Grant Harris, Richard Finlinson and Faye Jacobson. Reed Nileson, of Provo, is visiting at the home of Ray Finlinson. Mr. and Mrs. Byran Nielson and small son, of Salt Lake City, were weekend visitors last week with Mr. and Mrs. Peter Nielson. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Finlinson and Mr. and Mrs. George D. Shipley re-turned home Monday from Salt Lake, where Mrs. Finlinson had a major operation performed at ,the LDS hospital. Mrs. Shipley has been, for the past three weeks, with her daughter, Betty Dodge, who has a new son. Mrs. Clara Atkins, of Cedar City, visited a day or two with her mo-ther, Mrs. Lydia Finlinson. Mrs. Wilma Roberts and small son, of Caliente, Nevada, are visit-ing her mother, Mrs. Caddie Lovell. Wilburn Olson and Edsel Nielson, of Ogden, are visiting here with relatives. Edith Anderson, who is attend-ing nurses school at Salt Lake, was home for a weekend visit. Blanche Crafts and baby, of Hin-ckley, visited her mother, Mrs. Daisy Nielson last week. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Nielson and Vern Nielson made a business trip to Provo Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Crane and Mrs. Clara Colby, of Salina, visited here last Friday, with Mrs. Caddie Anderson. A wedding dance and shower will be given Saturday evening, March 27, for Mr. and Mrs. Carl Anderson. Everyone is invited. |
